Leyla Abulhawa (She/Her) is a multidisciplinary artist working across film, photography, and physical mediums. She explores memory and surrealism in her work. For her project, she wrote and directed a film called "Waking Dream". The short film captures the absurdity of dreams and the effect it has on Alora, the main character, when it twists with her reality and waking life.

ABOUT WORK:

“Waking Dream” is a short film which explores how the main character, Alora, suffers from vivid dreams that impact her waking life. She is haunted by this figure in her dreams that deteriorates her sense of reality. This film is inspired by my personal struggle with vivid dreams. By personifying them, I could display how the dreams haunt me throughout my life.
