Our Vision and Mission

Our vision is a diverse and inclusive creative sector where every young person, regardless of who they are or where they come from, can explore and fulfil their creative potential, and see themselves as future creative leaders.

Our mission is to create spaces, experiences and connections that support new voices and new ideas. We find, nurture and showcase underrepresented, emerging and established young creatives who use digital technology in their work.

From Brighton & beyond

Since 1986, Lighthouse has been Brighton-based, empowering artists to shape the creative industries. We have nurtured creativity locally, nationally, and internationally. Our internationally acclaimed initiatives, including Lighthouse Young Creatives and Guiding Lights, have helped young people in Brighton & Hove launch their creative careers, supported professional development for women in Brazil’s male-dominated sound and music sectors, and connected emerging filmmakers with mentors at the top of the film industry, many of whom have gone on to achieve BAFTA and Oscar-winning success.

We are excited and inspired by art that pushes boundaries through digital technology. Over the past four decades, we have collaborated with internationally renowned and emerging artists and filmmakers, including Haroon Mirza, Peter Middleton & James Spinney, Lynette Wallworth, The Otolith Group, Kutlug Ataman, Matthew Herbert, Metahaven, David Blandy, Larry Achiampong, Trevor Paglen, Blast Theory, Invisible Flock, Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, Amartey Golding, Elijah, Class Divide & Simon James.

Over the next four years, we’re taking our work nationwide, staying rooted in our community while sharing the knowledge, pathways, and opportunities that help young creatives lead, innovate, and transform culture.
