What We Do

Lighthouse is an arts and culture agency that connects new developments in art, technology and society. We produce commissions, exhibitions, events and education schemes that support radical new contemporary art, digital culture, music, film and much more.

Our programmes include Guiding Lights, the UK’s leading mentoring scheme for filmmakers, Lighthouse Studio, a residency programme for creatives to develop their practice and build an audience, and Progress Bar, a club night for “cutting edge thinking and dancing” (FACT Magazine). We are a co-founder of Brighton Digital Festival and we present our work in our Brighton venue as well as across the globe, in partnership with leading festivals and institutions.

In recent years we have presented or co-produced solo shows by David Blandy, The Otolith Group, Kutlug Ataman, Semiconductor, Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard, Lynette Wallworth, and Trevor Paglen.

We have also shown work by Blast Theory, Invisible Flock, Rafael Lozano Hemmer and more than two dozen other artists.

Lighthouse also managed the high-level production scheme, BFI Shorts, in collaboration with the British Film Institute, which produced 17 major short films over two years.

As well as hosting our own events, we provide commercial room hire.

If you’d like to know more about what we do, or our venue in Brighton, get in touch.
