Elhum Shakerifar - Producer
Elhum Shakerifar is an independent Creative Producer of documentary film and photography. Her work has included producing award-winning feature documentary The Reluctant Revolutionary about a Yemeni tour guide caught up in the unfolding revolution in his country; award-winning feature documentary The Runner about a long distance runner from the Western Sahara – the last colony in Africa, and award-winning photography book The Grey Line about US and UK soldiers who have spoken out against the war in Iraq – named one of TIME, the Guardian and the Telegraph’s top photobooks of 2013. She is currently producing Sean McAllister’s new film A Syrian Love Story, May Abdalla’s TriBeCa funded feature documentary about the Arctic’s melting ice, Cold Rush, and The Disappeared by Yasmin Fedda.
Elhum is also Programmer for Bird’s Eye View Film Festival, a festival spotlighting women filmmakers, most recently put together a programme for the Art on the Underground Canary Wharf Screen. Alongside this, she is also a research fellow at the Department of Anthropology at Goldsmiths University, and runs international film education projects through Postcode Films, of which she is a co-Founder and Director. In 2011, Elhum was selected to be part of the British Council Cultural Leadership scheme for her work in film education and partnerships in the arts.
