Nights In: Q&A with Joseph Wilson

Audio Recording & Transcript

This month Lighthouse hosted its first ever Nights In event, commencing the programme with a special screening and live Q&A with filmmaker Joseph Wilson. Attendees enjoyed popcorn and hot chocolates to accompany the screening of Wilson's latest short film I Can See the Sun But I Can't Feel It Yet (2023), which centres around the experiences of five young queer people undergoing conversion therapy at a nightmarish clinic.

In January 2023, the English government announced plans for a trans inclusive ban on conversion therapy, but despite this conversion therapy is currently legal in the UK. Wilson's film served as a reminder of the importance of pride and advocating for the rights and wellbeing of the entire LGBTQ+ community.

Following the screening, Joseph Wilson engaged in a Q&A session with the audience, discussed the themes of his work and shared his personal journey into the world of filmmaking.

Listen below to the audio recording of the Q&A portion of the evening.
