Amber’s creative journey in Brighton was shaped by their time on our Lighthouse Young Creatives (LYC) programme back in 2023/24. Being part of the LYC cohort gave them the confidence to say, “I belong in this space.”

Since then, they’ve continued to grow as an artist, recently commissioned recently commissioned by Brighton Festival & Brighton Dome as an Artist in Residence for Our Place in Moulsecoomb & Bevendean.

Through sculpture and creative workshops exploring growth, resilience and community, Amber invited unrepresented participants facing barriers to the arts from communities in Moulsecoomb and Bevendean to reflect on the question: “What does community mean to you?”

Their work is a powerful example of how creativity can root us in connection and inspire change. 💚

We’re super proud that Amber is part of our LYC alumni and are excited to see how their creative journey continues.

Watch the video below to hear more about the impact that being part of our LYC programme has had on them and their artistic practice.

Lighthouse Young Creatives is a six-month professional and personal development scheme that gives young people aged 16-25 the skills, confidence and connections they need to kickstart a career in the creative industries.
