Come to one of our free taster sessions in August and meet the mentors, the LYC team and ask any questions you may have. In this taster session you will learn about Digital Media, Photography & Music.

What is Lighthouse Young Creatives?
Lighthouse Young Creatives (LYC) is a six-month programme for 16-25-year-olds in Brighton and Hove that gives you the tools you need to kick-start your creative career. LYC is about pursuing your interests and ideas for your own creative project and supports you with mentorship, creative masterclasses, business sessions, and opportunities to curate events. We cover photography, video and filmmaking, music, VR and design, with dedicated mentors to help you bring your ideas to life. You’ll have access to equipment and a £200 budget for your project costs.

October 2024 - April 2025. Every Wednesday 12.30 - 4.30 pm

Why?
LYC is an opportunity to explore your creativity and start your path towards a creative career. Meet other young creatives, collaborate, learn the skills you want and get your project made, all with support from mentors and industry professionals.

Eligibility:
LYC is about increasing access to the creative industries. Our eligibility criteria exists to make sure we’re helping to do that for people who face barriers to access.

These barriers might include, but are not limited to:

  • Low income and/or from a low income or working class household
  • Struggling to engage with formal education or training
  • Unemployment or under-employment
  • Unstable housing
  • Drug or alcohol misuse
  • Gender
  • Disabilities
  • Ethnicity
  • Neurodiversity
  • Care leavers
  • Young carers
  • Other identified barriers

ABOUT LIGHTHOUSE
Lighthouse is a charity that supports artists who use digital technology in their work, helping people succeed within and beyond the creative and cultural industries. From their central Brighton venue, Lighthouse offers education and talent development programmes, commissions artists to make and present new work, and produces exhibitions, talks, and residencies.

ACCESSIBILITY
This event will be held on the ground floor, level access, of Lighthouse Project Space, New England House, Elder Place, York Hill Corner, BN1 4GH (map)

We have step-free access just to the left of our space. The step-free ramp is 1 metre wide, after the ramp you reach a blue door please use the 'Lighthouse' doorbell, one of the team will come to let you in and you will then go through a door that is 34 in / 86.5cm wide and after that another door in to the space that is 33.5 in / 85cm wide. There is an accessible toilet in the space on the same floor. We have one accessible parking space that must be booked in advance.
