Common Ground

Common Ground
Bringing the Brighton and Hove community together through common ground
A series of outdoor gatherings in Brighton and Hove’s green spaces by Lighthouse Future Creative Leader, Megan Lee from Mind, Body & Earth. With 4 events from 21 June - 8 August 2026, Common Ground is about bringing the community together through nature, movement, creativity & music and about treating our green spaces as meeting places + sanctuaries. It’s about connecting people, sharing skills, and building community outdoors – one space at a time.
Why Gather?
We live in a time where togetherness can feel fragile. Where making friends as an adult is a whole thing. Where loneliness + disconnection are quietly shaping how we move through the world. And people are craving more community and belonging in their lives than ever before (me included!).
COMMON GROUND was born out of a desire to gently challenge that - not with noise, but with presence. By slowing down and making space. Presence is radical.
I wanted to create a soft landing place. A series of small-scale, community-rooted sessions where people could meet, move, make, or simply be - outside, together, without pressure.
What Makes It Different?
Each COMMON GROUND session is held by a different local facilitator - wonderful humans offering their gifts, whether that’s movement, painting, storytelling, music, connection games, or simply holding space.
The sessions are:
- Held outdoors in green spaces across Brighton & Hove
- Designed to be accessible, low-pressure, and heart-led
- Grounded in the belief that everyone has something to offer
There’s no right way to participate. You can join in fully or sit quietly at the edge. It’s not about performative engagement - it’s about presence.
Less hierarchy, more shared space.
Who Is This For?
You, probably.
If you’ve ever felt a bit disconnected. If you’re new to Brighton or just want to feel a little more rooted. If you’re craving community but don’t know where to begin.
COMMON GROUND is open to anyone - no experience, no small talk skills required. Just curiosity and kindness.

ABOUT FUTURE CREATIVE LEADERS
Future Creative Leaders (FCL) is a 12-month paid programme offering young creatives from underrepresented backgrounds the opportunity to work closely with Lighthouse's leadership team to explore various aspects of creative leadership.
FCL redefines youth engagement by sharing power and resources directly with young people. This 12-month programme goes beyond access or participation. It places real influence, leadership, creative agency and decision-making power in the hands of those traditionally underrepresented in the creative industries.
Over the year, participants will co-curate programmes, select participants for mini-residencies, and recruit their successors, all while exploring alternative governance structures, accountability, and power-sharing.
