Aneil Karia – Director
Aneil studied directing at the National Film and Television School. His graduation piece, Spilt Milk, won the Royal Television Society Student Award and has since been broadcast by the BBC. Upon graduating, he was named as a 2009 ‘Hotshot’ by Broadcast Magazine. Shortly after this he directed sketches for CBBC’s Horrible Histories. Since then, Aneil has directed music videos with artists including Jonsi, Wave Machines, Deptford Goth and Dizzee Rascal, as well as commercials for brands such as Coca Cola and Nintendo. In summer 2012 he directed several video elements for the London Olympics Opening Ceremony, including the countdown to the start of the games. In 2013 Aneil made Beat, a short film starring Ben Whishaw. It screened at over 50 festivals worldwide including the BFI London Film Festival, Edinburgh, Brest European Short Film Festival, Slamdance and Encounters, where the film won the New European Talent Award.
In early 2014 Aneil directed Tag, written by Katherine Chandler, one of three short films commissioned by the BBC to launch their BBC iPlayer exclusive content. In June last year he was announced as one of Screen International’s ‘Stars of Tomorrow’. He is currently developing his first feature, Surge, with Rooks Nest and also working on another short.
