THE TECHNICAL ARTFORM OF SOUND EDITING - WORKSHOP
With a background in electronic music, Paul Davies graduated from the sound course of the National film and Television School in 1994. After working as a sound recordist, sound editor and dubbing mixer on a variety of feature, broadcast and corporate work, Paul was employed as a sound editor at Videosonics, a sound post production company based in Camden. During his time there Paul worked on a variety of feature film and television drama, including Ratcatcher, Love is the Devil, The Filth and the Fury, Touching Evil and Vanity Fair.
In 2000, Paul became a freelance supervising sound editor and sound designer, continuing his association with Lynne Ramsay, he sound designed her second feature Morvern Callar. Following on from this in 2003, Paul founded his own sound post-production company PDSoundDesign, and over the next 10 years accumulated credits on a number of features including The Proposition, The Queen, The Jacket, Kinky Boots, Hunger, The American, We Need to Talk About Kevin and The Imposter. His television credits include Red Riding 1980, Boy A and Southcliffe.
Paul is also a regular visiting tutor at the National Film and Television School and has held masterclasses and workshops at Harvard, The Baltic Film School in Estonia, The School of Sound, BAFTA and at the CPH:Dox festival in Copenhagen.
