TRANSPARENCY – EXPLORING THE INTERSECTION OF FUNDAMENTAL, PERSONAL AND PUBLIC TRANSPARENCY
Transparency is an exciting group exhibition, featuring works by seven international artists graduating from the University of Brighton’s Digital Media MA 2015, presented in partnership with Lighthouse. Coming from a diverse and rich mix of disciplines, the participants include artists, performers, designers, producers and film directors. The themes of their projects span ecology, gender, the contradiction of human emotion and humanity’s failings and triumphs.
“At Brighton University, I have the chance to fully develop all my skills and go further as a designer and as a producer.” – Digital Media Arts MA graduate, Dionysios Mantis
Included in the exhibition is Three Sisters by Maf’j Alvarez, an installation using fibre optics and plastic which looks towards pre-colonial native American traditions in planting to reveal stories about women and technology (pictured above). Michael L uses digital and traditional art tools to challenge cross-cultural ambivalence in his work Forty Four and Jamie Griffiths employs 3D video projections, cameras and live digital drawing in her interactive installation about identity and self image, Face It!
