BUILD YOUR OWN PAVILION: DIGITAL DESIGN WORKSHOP
2 SEPTEMBER 2016
RELEASE YOUR INNER ARCHITECT
Lighthouse is proud to be partnered with the Serpentine Gallery for a second year running to celebrate 15 years of innovative, experimental and ambitious architectural designs realised through its Pavilion project, which has commissioned some of today’s most renowned architects to build a temporary Pavilion on the Serpentine’s lawn in London’s Kensington Gardens.
To celebrate the Pavilion series, the Serpentine together with Kidesign are challenging budding young architects everywhere to design the pavilions of the future. So if you are aged 8-14 years, like drawing and making stuff and have an interest in architecture and design, then come and show us what you can do! This free two-hour workshop focuses on the digital design process – try out 3D computer aided design and see 3D printing in action.
Selected designs are showcased on the Build Your Own Pavilion: Young Architect Challenge website and in the media. Plus, there are prizes to be won. All national entries will be divided into four categories, Hand-made Models and Digital Design, each with 8-10 years and 11-14 years classes, with a winner and runner-up selected for each category. Each winner will receive an iPad pre-loaded with 3D CAD drawing software and each runner-up will be awarded an architecture toolkit packed with books and creative materials.
