Lighthouse is delighted to be partnering with London Short Film Festival to deliver a BFI Shorts event during their Down on the Farm short film retreat.
Held at the Quadrangle Trust farm in Kent over the weekend of 31 May – 2 June, Down on the Farm is a three day programme of events which will include screenings, live entertainment, panel discussions and masterclasses with leading practitioners from the UK film industry. The full programme can be seen here.
In association with the BFI’s Film Fund, Lighthouse will present a session featuring Jamie Stone discussing the visual effects he has used to create big impact in his ambitious sci-fi romance Orbit Ever After, selected last year for production through the BFI Shorts 2012 scheme.
Sat 1 June – 12noon
Jamie Stone: BFI Shorts, in association with Lighthouse & BFI Film Fund
Jamie Stone trained in fine art and went on to study at the National Film & Television School. His graduate film, Skyborn, involved flying machines, pyrotechnics, miniatures and chickens, and was nominated for a student Oscar. Working across documentaries, animation and live-action drama, Jamie was named in 2012 as a Screen ‘Star of Tomorrow’. Selected for the BFI Shorts scheme, he is currently working on Orbit Ever After, a sci-fi romance about two star-crossed lovers. In this session, Jamie will discuss how he has used a combination of antiquated in-camera techniques with digital VFX to achieve big budget production values not often seen in the short form format.
Dates: 31 May – 2 June
