Artists David Blandy & Daniel Locke reveal the work behind HELIX, a collaborative digital graphic novel and exhibition, produced in collaboration with Adam Rutherford.

To coincide with the exhibition Helix, collaborating artists Daniel Locke and David Blandy are giving a talk at GV Art about the process, ideas and their evolution that led to Helix. Taking visitors from conception to creation, Blandy and Locke will talk about exploring the 40,000-year-old story of DNA, and its future 500 years from now.

Beginning with a residency at Lighthouse, as part of Brighton Science Festival 2013, Helix explores and re-imagines the story of DNA. Collaborating together, scientist and author Adam Rutherford, graphic novelist Daniel Locke, and artist David Blandy, sketched, talked and speculated about the future of genetics; sharing ideas about synthetic biology, mythology and storytelling. This evolved into a story spanning 40,000 years, from ancient chimera to modern-day spider goats, to a speculated future of centuries-old human beings.
