The Craft of Writing TV Drama

This Skillset-supported course provides an opportunity for six writers to take part in a series of practical workshops to learn and then apply a range of skills and techniques for developing quality drama for the small screen. During the course each participant will write a 50-minute episode of a fully-formatted original drama series with the support and guidance of an experienced professional writer and script editor.

Eight workshop days are spread over a period of five months.
Writers will be expected to meet deadlines for treatments, storylines and drafts between sessions. The submitted application and the final draft scripts will be read and assessed by television drama executives currently involved in developing new work.

This course is funded by Skillset's Freelance Training Fund, the European Social Fund and the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, and is part of Lighthouse's Scriptnaked Programme, providing professional development support for screenwriters. Skillset is the Sector Skills Council for the Audio Visual Industries.
