Introduction to Screenwriting: A Foundation Course

This 22-week evening course follows a syllabus commissioned by the UK Film Council and is designed to help aspiring writers and filmmakers develop an understanding of the craft and art of screenwriting. Participants are encouraged to complete a short screenplay, taking it from premise to final draft, and to develop an enquiring and analytical approach to their work. The course develops from initial lectures and screenings to a workshop format with group discussions and practical creative writing exercises throughout. The course is open to anyone interested in writing for the screen and filmmakers keen to gain a better understanding of the screenwriting process.
