New Media Design Talent for Next Generation Solutions Lighthouse is delighted to announce the launch of this year's vibrant new digital media producers and designers graduating from our 'Web Solutions and Project Management' programme.

At the launch the guests will have an opportunity to meet these highly talented graduates and their tutors and to view the dynamic web based projects they have developed over the last nine months. This showcase will demonstrate individual creative talent inspired by current developments in software and technology but underpinned by an understanding of convergence within the arts, cretive design and new media. Many of the graduates from this programme aim to enter the creative industries sector.

'We define the creative industries as those industries which have their origin in individual creativity, skill and talent and which have a potential for wealth and job creation through the generation and exploitation of intel/ectual property. This includes advertising, architecture, the art and antiques market, crafts, design, designer fashion, film and video, interactive leisure software, music, the performing arts, publishing, software and computer services, television and radio,' - DCMS 2002

The Web Solutions graduates bring with them experiences and backgrounds in art, music, photography, programming and project management now enhanced by professional and vocational skills. Combined, these will enable them to add to new thinking in concept design and digital media business strategy, which will shape next generation design agencies, technologies and solutions for the knowledge based economy.

In the coming months some of these graduates will join the Lighthouse Incubator Initiative, which will enable them to continue their professional development in a working production team environment at Lighthouse.

The Web Solutions and Project Management Programme has been funded in 2002-2003 by Job Centre Plus, European Social Fund and Lighthouse. It has been provided with advice and support through consultation with the accrediting body The South East of England Open College Network and by representatives from the education and corporate sectors. We gratefully acknowledge their support.
