Lighthouse launches a new monthly programme that presents tracks by the rising stars of the deep web and explores the culture of music for clubs, galleries and games.

Compiled and presented by Lighthouse Artistic Director Juha van ‘t Zelfde on digital radio station Resonance EXTRA, the show dives deep into the rabbit hole of internet music culture, playing two hours of the latest electronic music, particularly leftfield club genres, visceral noise and sound art. Tracks range from those by unsigned artists with only a couple of hundred Soundcloud followers to new, and soon-to-be released, ones.

“The radio show is an opportunity for Lighthouse to share the work of artists we collaborate with, such as Kuedo, who composed the soundtrack for Metahaven’s debut feature documentary The Sprawl, and Drill Folly, who DJ’d at Progress Bar last year. The first show will present two hours of pure music from, amongst other Brighton producers, Drill Folly and Ital Tek, Lighthouse collaborators Lotic, Gaika and Roly Porter, and some of my favourite sound and music for film and art, by Mica Levi and Ville Haimala,” says Juha.

Future shows will also feature guest mixes and interviews, and be co-hosted with music producers and artists.

Founded in 2006, Viral Radio was devised as a platform to support the work of musicians shaping the sound of the future, hosting festivals in Serbia and Russia, and events in Spain, Germany and the Netherlands as well as long-standing radio shows on Dutch public station VPRO and online station Red Light Radio. As well as the monthly show on Resonance EXTRA, Viral Radio will continue to reach new audiences in 2016, through live events, podcasts and more.
