PROGRESS BAR AMSTERDAM
You may have heard that we’re presenting a new Amsterdam series of Progress Bar, in collaboration with the edge-riding Sonic Acts, which starts on Saturday 16 January. With talks by Fader journalist Aimee Cliff and poet Roger Robinson, a performance by King Midas Sound & Fennesz, and an afterparty with Endgame, Kamixlo and Lexxi, the first event in the series is going to be a corker.

I invited Aimee Cliff to speak at Progress Bar in Amsterdam, not just because of her stellar music writing for The FADER, but also for her eye on new developments and social issues in music culture at large. On the night, she will speak about the importance of independent clubs in cities like London and Amsterdam.

The first time I booked King Midas Sound was to play at my Viral Radio Festival, on 23 June 2008, in Amsterdam. It was quite the line-up.

EXPERIENCE VIRAL RADIO
For those who are wondering what a Viral Radio night sounds like, here’s a video from the first edition with Rhythm & Sound, featuring Tikiman, Cyrus, Kromestar and U Dub, at 11 in December 2007. Progress Bar is basically this, plus hearing the people who make this happen tell you why and how they do it, on the same night.

THE BUG @ SONIC ACTS
Sonic Acts and Viral Radio have been working together for many years. One of our best nights was in 2013, when the Bug (who’s also in King Midas Sound) performed live. Incidentally at the same venue that Progress Bar Amsterdam will be held at, Paradiso-Noord.
