SCREEN TRAINING IRELAND TO SUPPORT AN IRISH WRITER ON GUIDING LIGHTS 2017

We're pleased to announce that Screen Training Ireland, part of Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board (IFB), is supporting an Irish writer to participate in the ninth edition of Guiding Lights, the UK’s most prestigious film mentoring scheme.
First launched in 2006, Guiding Lights supports upcoming filmmakers and professionals through high-level mentoring, complemented by a range of training and networking activities.
A long-term supporter of the scheme, Screen Training Ireland has already helped several filmmakers to take part, including Guiding Lights eight participants director Kate Dolan and writer Ailbhe Keogan, who were mentored by Alice Lowe (Prevenge, Sightseers) and Alex Garland (Ex Machina, 28 Days Later), respectively.
The last Guiding Lights scheme also saw, amongst others, Andrew Haigh (Weekend, 45 Years), Clio Barnard (The Arbor, The Selfish Giant) and Tessa Ross (Slumdog Millionaire, 12 Years A Slave) join an illustrious list of former mentors including Danny Boyle, Barbara Broccoli, Hossein Amini, Sam Mendes, Walter Murch, Joanna Hogg, Abi Morgan, Nira Park and Kenneth Branagh.
If you are an Ireland-based screenwriter interested in taking part, the scheme is now open to applications.
The deadline date for applications is 5pm, Tuesday 11 April 2017.
