Wise words from Resonance FM

Resonance FM is the world’s first art radio station. Providing a radical alternative to mainstream broadcasting, it shares Lighthouse’s progressive approach to contemporary culture and a crossover audience.

Featuring weekly contributions from more than 150 innovative musicians, artists, critics, activists and others, it is the ideal media partner for The Long Progress Bar – our two-day festival of radical imagination that gathers artists such as Holly Herndon, David Blandy and Jam City for talks, workshops, screenings and performances to examine empowerment through collective action, art, culture and technology.

During the festival, Resonance FM will broadcast a selection of audio productions featuring bespoke mixtapes and interviews with selected festival participants and the wider Progress Bar community. Helmed by Lighthouse Artistic Director and festival curator, Juha van ’t Zelfde, and with a pool of potential contributors including creatives, thinkers and radical change-makers to draw from, expect vanguard sounds and boundary pushing conversations.

Ed Baxter, co-founder and CEO of Resonance FM comments, “With Resonance launching on DAB this autumn in both Brighton & Hove and London, it’s as timely as it is exciting for us to partner The Long Progress Bar during Brighton Digital Festival.” Juha adds, “Resonance FM has been an invaluable and inspiring home for artists, musicians, thinkers and activists since 2002, both on FM and online. We are delighted to team up with such an esteemed network, and look forward to welcoming new people into our community."

Check the schedule to make sure you’re tuned into Resonance FM for the first broadcast.

The Long Progress Bar
The Long Progress Bar is an extension of Lighthouse’s monthly Progress Bar series and builds on its former annual conference of contemporary culture, Improving Reality.

It is part of Brighton Digital Festival – a month-long celebration of digital culture, made up of events, exhibitions, performances, workshops, conferences and meetups that take place in venues and outdoor spaces across the city throughout September, and supported by Arts Council England and Brighton & Hove City Council.
