Orbit Ever After wins Grand Prix award at Encounters

17 June 2015

We are delighted to announce that one of our BFI Short films, Orbit Ever After, has won the main prize at one of Europe's leading festivals for short film.

Huge congratulations to Jamie Stone, Chee-Lan Chan, Len Rowles and their talented team following the announcement that Orbit Ever After, one of the films produced through the BFI Shorts scheme, has won the Brief Encounters Grand Prix Award at Encounters Short Film and Animation Festival – its first festival outing. To read the full line-up of winners at Encounters, please follow this link

In giving the award, the festival praised Jamie’s film for its “creative ingenuity, inspired casting, humour, clarity of storytelling and poetic ending”. The award also means that the film is now eligible to be submitted for consideration for an Academy Award. So perhaps Jamie will be able to follow up on his Student Oscar® nomination for Skyborn with a win for Orbit!

The film is a huge technical achievement. To look behind the scenes and get a glimpse of how the team managed to create a realistic space hovel complete with anti-gravity scenes and space-walks, take a look at the ‘making of’ video below
