LSFF Screening in Memory of Chris Collins
16 January 2015
After the very sad news of Chris Collins’ death last year, we’re pleased to share details of a fundraising event being held in his memory.
On Sunday (18 January), the final night of this year’s London Short Film Festival, a selection of the short films Chris worked on will be shown at a special screening presented at the ICA.
Chris Collins was a Senior Development and Production Executive at the BFI Film Fund, who also worked as a senior executive at the UK Film Council. Before joining the UKFC, he was an independent producer with credits on Brick Lane, Tomorrow La Scala!, Last Resort and My Summer of Love. A tireless champion of home-grown British talent, he supported numerous filmmakers including Carine Adler, Pawel Pawlikowski, Duane Hopkins, Andrea Arnold, James Marsh and Jonathan Glazer.
Lighthouse had the pleasure and privilege of working closely with Chris on the BFI Shorts scheme which was launched at the start of 2012. Two of the films produced through the scheme – Liam + Lenka (directed by Michael Keillor) and Tits (directed by Alex Winckler) – will be shown at the LSFF screening, alongside work by Oscar winner Andrea Arnold, recent BIFA winner Oscar Sharp and Sundance winner Kibwe Tavares.
Proceeds from the evening will go to Chris’ chosen charity Dimbleby Cancer Care, which seeks to improve life for people living with cancer. The charity is currently fundraising for Care For the Future, an information and support service to be housed in the new Cancer Centre at Guys Hospital.
The evening’s programme is as follows:
Dog (Andrea Arnold, 10 min)
Jonah (Kibwe Tavares, 17 min)
The Karman LIne (Oscar Sharp, 24 min)
Liam + Lenka (Michael Keillor, 17 min)
Tits (Alex Winckler, 14 min)
