CURATOR ANNOUNCED FOR DATA AS CULTURE

06 February 2014

We're delighted to announce Shiri Shalmy as new curator for Data as Culture 2014

Working in partnership with the ODI on the next phase of their Data as Culture programme and in partnership with FutureEverything, we put out an open call for proposals for curators to conceive and produce the next exhibition in the Data as Culture programme.

There was an impressive response to the open call for curators with almost 50 extremely high quality submissions from curators all over the world. Curators were called upon to apply for funds to conceive and produce the next exhibition in the Data as Culture art programme.

After a very tough selection process by the selection panel, we are delighted to announce that we have chosen Shiri Shalmy to work closely with all partners on delivering the Data as Culture art programme in 2014.

Shiri is a freelance contemporary art curator, who showed a refreshing openness to work with practitioners from a range of fields – art, technology and design – in her proposal.

Her recent exhibition, Data at Contemporary Art Society, engaged with data manifestation materially and physically, and her work on the ODI’s Data as Culture art programme will deepen this line of enquiry.

A mixture of new commissions, existing works, and events will be announced in February.
