Best Wishes for the New Year
04 January 2012
All of us at Lighthouse would like to wish our friends, colleagues, collaborators, visitors and supporters a Happy New Year. By Honor Harger
Well, what a year it’s been! Sometimes tumultuous, occasionally euphoric, and always busy, 2011 is going to go down a very important year for us at Lighthouse. We’ve celebrated our 25th birthday, unveiled a new look and feel, presented exhibitions by outstanding artists, including Lynette Wallworth, Kutlug Ataman, Semiconductor and more, received Oscar and BAFTA nominations for the short films we commissioned with the BBC, transformed Lighthouse into a science laboratory, taken our work around the world and launched Brighton Digital Festival
All of this has taken place at a time of great austerity and uncertainty in the UK, which has made life challenging for us, but also for our colleagues. Bearing that in mind, we are enormously grateful for the support of our community: the artists, filmmakers, technologists and designers we’ve worked with on our programme, our partners who’ve helped us do what we’ve done this year, our funders and supporters who have enabled us to carry out our work this year, and our audiences and visitors, who have been with us all year. Thank you to everyone for your support.
2012 is looking set to be another big year. We’ve got a whole raft of big announcements to make this month, and we can’t wait to share some of our exciting news with you all.
In the meantime, on behalf of the team – Emma, Emily, Jamie, Miriam, Iyke and Roberta – and our board – Anthony, Martin, Zoe, Sue, Antony, Matt and Ken – we would like to wish you a happy new year.
