In July, the group went to Galway Film Fleadh where they took part in industry events, a masterclass, and pitched projects at the Marketplace. We're pleased to announce that Screen Training Ireland, part of Bord Scannán na hÉireann/the Irish Film Board (IFB), is supporting an Irish writer to participate in the ninth edition of Guiding Lights, the UK’s most prestigious film mentoring scheme.

Named one of Screen International’s ‘Stars of Tomorrow’, Paven Virk has taken part in Working Title’s residency at the Hay Festival, and is currently developing Muslim Girls with Ecosse Films, a music film, Bhangra, with producer Jeffrey Taylor, and the life story of iconic singer, actress and author Pauline Black, best known for her role as the lead singer of ska group The Selector.

Following a highly competitive selection process, with more than 215 applications received from across the UK and Ireland, Lighthouse and Creative Skillset are delighted to reveal the new participants to join the eighth edition of the UK’s most prestigious mentoring scheme.
As we welcome the new Guiding Lights 8 mentees, we look back at the highlights and achievements of the 15 writers, directors, producers and exhibitors who took part in the seventh edition of the scheme, during 2015-2016.
Over the years, Guiding Lights participants have achieved great BAFTA success, with their films receiving numerous awards and nominations – a testament to the calibre of both the mentors and mentees who take part – and 2016 is no exception.
