Karan Kandhari, Rebecca Wolff

Karan Kandhari – Writer/Director

Karan Kandhari’s family is from Delhi. He has lived in India, Kuwait, the UAE, and moved to the UK in 1999 to study Film, deciding to stay after a quick detour to Bombay. Most recently, he wrote and directed the short film Hard Hat, which won the Audience Award at the Rushes Soho Shorts 2010, Best Comedy at SuperShorts 2010, and was nominated for the FujiFilm Shorts Award. Hard Hat secured European distribution, with its first broadcast and sale to Canal Plus in France. It is continuing to travel through festivals. Karan’s latest short Flight Of The Pompadour , which was made via FujiFilm’s YMC16 competition, is in the Official Selection for the BFI London Film Festival 2012. Alongside his narrative work, Karan is signed to Tomboy Films to direct commercials, where he has directed pieces for the BTAA and the Frieze Art Fair. Hard Hat , Flight of the Pompadour and Sidney complete a trilogy of thematically linked shorts about misfits, loners and outsiders.  The trilogy is called A United Howl .

Rebecca Wolff – Producer

Rebecca Wolff has worked for the past four years at BAFTA-award winning tv/film and commercials production company The Producers as a development producer. During this time she developed four feature films up to financing level as well as being heavily involved with the financing process and pulling together key crew. She has also worked on commercials/promos and animation/art films including a performance art film for the Tate Modern starring Jude Law. Alongside this work she has edited a children’s book called Matilda’s Secret for writer/director Sandra Goldbacher.
