Sara Duffy – Exhibitor
Sara started her career in film exhibition in 2008, working for Cinecity Brighton Film Festival. Since then she has worked for a variety of film organisations in the region, and gained specialist experience and knowledge co-ordinating major Artist Moving Image exhibitions and creating site-specific cinema experiences. She has also worked with Czech production team Athanor on the UK premiere of Jan Svankmajer’s Inner Life of Objects 2013, BBC Arena’s 40th Anniversary in 2015, and the Quay Brothers Retrospective Inventorium in 2008.
Sara has a keen interest in the growing live and expanded cinema sector, and sees the exciting potential for using it as a gateway to wider audiences. Whether it’s in a cinema, gallery, listed building, an old library, a railway station or a sea-life centre, her work has been dedicated to organising and managing the delivery of special and immersive film events. She project managed Brighton pop-up cinemas for two of the BFI’s Blockbuster seasons – Love: Films to Fall in Love With (2014) and Sci-Fi: Days of Fear and Wonder (2015), and is currently working on a project for Britain on Film: Rural Life – screening archive films at South East Agricultural Show.
