Paul Fischer - Producer
Paul Fischer is twenty-eight years old. He is the producer of the short films Despair, starring Bryce Dallas Howard for the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Condom Lead, which in 2013 became the first Palestinian short film ever selected for the Cannes Film Festival, and The Body starring Alfie Allen and Hannah Tointon, which won three Best Short prizes in its first three months in festivals including the Melies d’Argent at Sitges, and was called “the best Halloween-themed short film I’ve ever seen” by Empire magazine. In 2012 he produced his first feature film, the documentary Radioman, which won the Grand Jury prize at Doc NYC and was shortlisted for a Grierson Award before being cinematically released to critical acclaim. It was described as “a fascinating film” by The Observer’s Philip French, offering “a shrewd insight into the sentimentality and superstition of the film business, and the brittle world of movie status and prestige” (Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian). He is an Executive Producer on Chicken, Joe Stephenson’s first feature starring Yasmin Paige and Scott Chambers, to be released later this year. Paul is currently writing his first book A Kim Jong-Il Production to be published by Viking Penguin in the spring of 2015 in the UK and Flatiron Books in the US.
