Meloni Poole – Director
Meloni began making documentaries for Channel 4, the British Film Institute and The Arts Council of England with her films: This Charming Man, a portrait of her father, an ex-coalminer turned inventor, which was selected by BFI for their 100 British Films reflecting ‘Britishness’, A Sicknote for Michael and A Clean Slate.
She moved into drama with the short film Dish, a story of two strangers on a night of strange passion, funded by Film4 and the Film Council. Lap, a tender love story between a lap dancer and a blind man, funded by Screen Yorkshire, was selected by the British Council and shown at International Film Festivals. Both films are distributed by the BFI.
Meloni’s short film TRiGGA won Best Director Award at the Women’s Independent Film Festival, Hollywood, and her feature Shy Bird was one of twelve projects developed through iFeatures 2016, run by Creative England, BFI and BBC Films. She currently has several feature films in development.
