George Kane - Writer
George Kane is a Writer/Director/Editor and a graduate of Ireland’s National Film School. In 2012 he directed the multi-award-winning feature mockumentary Discoverdale which starred comedy rock band Dead Cat Bounce and won Best International Feature at the Galway Film Fleadh 2013. In 2007, George’s self-produced comedy pilot Cinephilia led him to direct Channel 4 Comedy Lab piece Headwreckers. Since then, George has worked steadily in TV comedy, co-writing and directing two series of Sketchy for BBC NI, directing sketches for BBC3’s Live at the Electric, and Seann Walsh’s Late Night Comedy Spectacular. He has also been developing the Fergus Craig and Sophie Black project The Actor’s School with Graham Linehan’s Delightful Industries. Last year, George directed and edited 3-part BBC NI travelogue Michael Smiley: Something To Ride Home About which was broadcast to acclaim in April 2014. His film writing slate currently includes a new comedy feature with the Discoverdale team, a sci-fi horror, a Euro-trip comedy and a family-friendly Christmas comedy adventure.
