Elizabeth Stopford - Director
Elizabeth Stopford started out at leading UK production company Tiger Aspect developing and producing a variety of projects including a portfolio of documentaries about monastic life – The Monastery (BBC2), The Convent (BBC2), and 40 Days (TLC, USA). Her directing credits include two feature length documentary films for BBC Storyville, one being the Grierson award-winning I’m Not Dead Yet. Her 2012 Channel 4 documentary We Need To Talk About Dad was nominated for a BAFTA and Grierson and was met with critical success and received high ratings. Over the past two years Elizabeth has moved between directing for television and commercials (this year directing two episodes of the BAFTA-winning ITV series Long Lost Family), while also developing two feature-length passion projects intended for theatrical release. These include Shooting Kids, a hybrid feature film with funding from the British Film Institute, and Conception, an exciting feature documentary with funding from Film4. Elizabeth’s unique approach sees her combine the authentic heart of documentary with the craft of fiction.
